Fresh Ideas for Pine Cones
You've been walking around with the kiddos and have managed to fill your purse with pine cones. This is not unusual. You have curious kids and frankly, you like pine cones. It reminds you of Autumn, pumpkin spice and Christmas time wreaths. These are all fantastic memories, for the most part.
Now you are home. You realize there is sap on your purse and a majority of the pine cones are broken. Ah well. The adventure with the kiddos was well worth it. And the purse wasn't that great to begin with. You place your hand on your chin and look curiously at these pine cones. What now?
May I introduce you to some ideas?
Pull out those pine cones and roast them in the oven for about 10 minutes on a heat setting of 350 degrees Fahrenheit. This will help eliminate the the sticky sap. After they have cooled, try one of the following TOTALLY FRESH ideas.
1. Pine cone peacocks
To make these, simply look for the natural curve in the pine cone. Remove a few scales to accentuate the curve and create a division between the body of the peacock and the tail. Paint the peacock and add the eyes on the tail. Now paint two eyes on the stem and a glue a feather on top. VIOLA!

3. UniCone Headpiece
This was fun to make and could translate into many different ideas. You could make a wreath, or a wall hanging using this technique. Lots of options here. Find the tutorial here.
